Tasting GuideIt does not matter, which Single Malt Whisky you would like to taste first. But make a special ceremony out of your tasting, because in a hurry, you get nowhere. First of all choose the right glass: The wide belly and the narrow rim of a nosing glass, will give you a much more concentrated aroma, than a normal whisky tumbler could do. Now pour a little bit from your chosen malt in the glass and warm it up a little bit with your hands. You will be able to smell the full bouquet by swirling it gently around in the glass (Nosing). A lot of whisky lovers prefer their dram neat. But in Scotland it is quite normal to add a little pure spring water. It is important that you use a quiet water and no sparkling, soda or mineral water. Check a last time the colour and nose and give yourself to the pleasure on sipping the first drops of your malt. Enjoy the excitement of the first taste, when the liquid pours soft over your tongue and raises in your palate. Each sip of whisky will surprise you with a lot of flavours and a long aftertaste. Grope your way into an unknown whisky over several days.
