Cooperage
The new whisky is now ready to be barreled. Only charred white oak barrels are used to barrel Early Times. Securing a fine barrel is the first important step in maturing a new whisky. Blue Grass Cooperage assures a constant supply of quality barrels for Early Times. After securing prime quality white oak, Blue Grass craftsmen carefully shape it into staves and heads. These parts are assembled by epert coopers into 50-Gallon whisky barrels. The barrel must then be charred, which is where the new whisky gets taste, aroma and color. it is absolutely necessary that charring be uniform in depth and coverage in order to obtain a smooth and consistent whisky. |
